MEET YOUR GUIDE

WHY I LEAD THIS JOURNEY

I’m Musa Starseed — a dance instructor, movement coach, and lifelong student of Afro-Cuban dance and music.I’ve spent years traveling to Cuba, learning directly from musicians, dancers, and cultural educators, and building real relationships within the community. My work is rooted in understanding dance as lived culture — not performance for tourists, but a living language shaped by history, rhythm, and daily life.I’ve been leading cultural immersion trips for years, guiding dancers beyond the flashy surface of Cuba and into experiences that are intimate, respectful, and deeply enriching. These journeys focus on connection — to the music, the people, and the soul of the culture. This immersion is a reflection of my path — and an invitation to walk it with intention, curiosity, and respect.

A LIVED CURRICULUM

WHAT WE STUDY
AND EXPERIENCE IN CUBA

This immersion follows the living history of salsa through music, movement, and community. We study Son, Cha-cha-chá, Mambo, Rumba, Timba and Afro-Cuban rhythm as they are lived — guided by professional Cuban musicians and dancers. Each day includes dance and music classes, live performances, visits to local social dance spaces, cultural neighborhoods, and presentations by Cuban artists.Learning happens in studios, on the streets, in music venues, and in conversation — connecting technique, history, and lived expression.

OUR CUBAN COLLABORATORS

ROOTED IN COMMUNITY
LED BY MASTERS

This immersion is built in collaboration with respected Cuban dance companies, musicians, educators, and cultural organizers. We work directly with groups such as BanRarrá, a renowned company rooted in Afro-Cuban and Haitian traditions, known for powerful expressions of rumba, Afro-Haitian dances, and traditional ceremonial forms.Dance classes and musical study are also guided in partnership with Casa del Son, where son, mambo, and social dance traditions are preserved and passed on by working musicians and dancers.Throughout the journey, we are supported by professional Cuban cultural organizers and heritage educators, ensuring every experience is respectful, informed, and deeply connected to lived tradition.
